GREAT WESTERN HWY IMPROVEMENTS - HARTLEY VALLEY TO FORTY BENDS, NSW
The aim of the project was to make this section of the Great Western Hwy safer through realignment of the existing curves and improved road surface to lessen the risk of black ice. The main challenges were to implement different design solutions due to the varying ground conditions, working at heights above 20m while assuring the aesthetic of the final product. In total, over 1,700no. of rock bolts, 13,000m2 of shotcrete, 3,500m2 simulated rock as well as 2,900m2 of rockfall mesh were installed in various locations.
