Project Manager - Piling

The RIX Group are market leaders in their trade and undertake a comprehensive variety of ground engineering disciplines. Our piling division was founded in 2015 and is one example of how The RIX Group has grown and developed over the years.


The Piling Division is an important part of The RIX Group’s service to our Clients. The piling element of the works often becomes part of a ground engineering or shoring package, supported by other activities such as ground anchoring, shotcreting and stabilisation works.


This is a great opportunity, an autonomous role that will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to primarily project manage the piling jobs, to use their skills and experiences gained within the piling industry to further develop our piling resources and capabilities, currently consisting of seven piling rigs and 15 dedicated piling staff, undertaking works in the basement and the infrastructure sectors.

Job Details:

Based at our Head Office in Kurnell, NSW, working across NSW and further afield, the general role requirements are:


  • Day to day project management of our piling works, with the support of our Piling Operations Supervisor;
  • Programming, resourcing and delivering projects to budgets;
  • Site visits and meetings;
  • Contract awareness, negotiation and administration;
  • Preparing progress claims;
  • Quantifying and ordering materials;
  • Verifying creditor claims and invoices;
  • Tendering and tender reviews;
  • Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Recruitment of new staff. Undertaking annual performance and pay reviews and following disciplinary procedures as and when required;
  • Project forecasting and quarterly reporting;
  • Review current plant and labour capabilities and provide input and proposals to increase efficiencies.


Minimum competencies:


  • Sound knowledge of piling methods; 
  • Sound knowledge of piling plant and capabilities;
  • Previous experience in a position at a management level; 
  • High level capability with Word and Excel;
  • Use software to scale and quantify e.g. adobe or similar (blue beam);
  • Take off and materials scheduling from drawings;
  • Understand and interpret Geotechnical reports and ground conditions; 
  • Additional knowledge of other ground engineering services taken into consideration.
